The prelim of Mr. and Ms. Anugoonj, the most anticipated event of the fest was held in the D Block Seminar Hall on 12th Feb. The judges were Mr. Chandan Kumar, Miss Jyotsana and Mr. Ashish Payal.

The auditorium, which has a seating capacity of 120, was more than full with students sitting on the stairs. The competition consisted of 3 rounds, namely, the intro round, the talent round and the question answer round. It began with anchor Shivali Bhatti reading to the judges and the audience the rules and premise of the competition.

The competition began with the first round. The scores were to be awarded based on the confidence and attitude of the participants. They introduced themselves and expressed why they should win the title of Mr./Miss Anugoonj. The intro round saw Amarjit’s short and impressive introduction, while Gaurav gave a standard intro and Lokesh was rather stagy. Among the girls, we had Anam expressing herself very confidently. Malvika’s introduction was a bit lengthy but honest.

The talent round witnessed 5 dance performances while Bhawika and Anam choose to sing. Anam sang the song ‘Samjhawaan’ and the audience was very supportive. They clapped all through the performance even though there were some technical issues with the mike. Bhawika played the song ‘Chahoon Main Yaa Naa’ on her guitar. The viewers gasped in wonder and admiration. Amarjit’s khalsa was particularly impressive as he involved the audiences and utilized the stage pretty well. Inspite of facing regular technical errors, the participants tried their best not to let it reflect in their performances. Lokesh’s contemporary dance performance was very articulate and emotional.

Judges fired their questions at the participants ... and we witnessed some emotional and some smart answers. Gaurav was asked what he would do if he got a chance to be the C.M. of Delhi’. Amarjit’s emotional, heartfelt answer did the trick for him. He was quizzed “if god grants you one wish, what would you ask for?” To which he replied “an infinite life for my parents”. The elaboration further substantiated his point. Aarushi’s interesting reply to Jyotsna ma’am’s question “rich guy or good guy” was worth hearing. Malvika was to answer what would she do if she won a 10cr lottery. She said “I’d love to travel the world and then contribute towards women safety” this reply added to her grades and finally the results were declared.

The winners of the prelims of Mr. and Miss Anugoonj were Amarjit Singh and Malvika. When asked about his tour de force, Amarjit said “I’m very excited. I want to thank the audience who was very supportive. I’m looking forward to representing the University.”
